'My soul, wait silently for God.' Psalm 62:5 Dear God, airports, train stations, and hospitals are not exclusive in having waiting rooms. Sometimes it seems like a lot of life is one large waiting room, an anteroom of expectation for some longed for event or dream. As I wait I tire of the trite reminder from people, "All things come to those who wait." When I turn to the Bible, from psalmist, prophet, and apostle comes the same challenging word: wait. "Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!" (Psalm 27:14). "Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength" (Isaiah 40:31). Waiting on You is not so You can catch up with me, but a conditioning to receive You who are always ahead of me calling me on. You Yourself are the answer to my deepest need. Waiting is not passive but active. It's responding to Your call to intimate communion with You. In this time of prayer, I report in for a renewed relationship with You, Father. You have been waiting for me to realize how much I need You. Abiding in You is the essence of waiting on You. Thank You for giving me patience to wait for Your perfect timing to release power for me to respond to the guidance You give while I wait. --L.J.
